  • 74% suffer harassment, while 84% suffer verbal abuse.
  • In approximately 82% of these cases, the faculty and the school administration never intervene.
  • 80% of all GLBT suffer isolation.
  • 26% leave home when they come out of the closet.
  • 60% of all hate crimes are against males perceived to be gay.
  • 50% of all Gay males commit suicide.

 

The statistics are staggering.

We as a country have been engaged in a war against drugs and alcohol for decades. We have developed many well promoted campaigns to "just say no." These programs are desperately needed. However the suicide rate in the GLBT community is reaching epidemic proportions.


Have these statistics gone by the wayside simply because this community is still not widely accepted?

The Prodigal is a dramatic presentation taken straight from today's headlines. The background setting is in the explosive controversy of Homosexuality and the Church.

The play deals with the tragic events of a Christian family who have to resort to desperate measures to save the life of their transgender child. This family is horrified to witness first hand the hatred, harassment and abuse directed against the GLBT Community. Emotions peak fever pitch as each family member comes to a painstaking decision...
